National Signing Day Event

April 20, 2023

11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

New students entering auto maintenance technician, HVAC/R, welding, machine tool technician, and industrial maintenance programs for the 2023-2024 school year are invited to sign symbolic ‘letters of intent’ during a short ceremony, similar to an athlete signing their intent to join an NCAA school.

The event highlights new students and the importance of technical education and careers. Instructors, current students and industry partners will be there to celebrate. Students participating in the signing ceremony are welcome to invite up to four guests to join you in the celebration.

Please register by April 14 to secure your spot using the registration link.

This course will provide an instructor update for instructing the topic of High Risk Vehicle Contacts that will be implemented in the future Law Enforcement Academy course.

Reamers Ethical Decision Making Framework

Highlighted Revisions to the Code of Ethics

The four-hour workshop will discuss the specific challenges and considerations with ethical social work practice in rural settings. As technology connects more people in different ways, maintaining privacy and healthy boundaries can be increasingly challenging. We will discuss healthy boundaries, dual relationships, and use the NASW Code of Ethics and Reamer's Ethical Decision-Making Model to assess the ways technology and rural social practice intersect.  

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify ethical challenges specific to rural practice and technology.
     
  • Define and identify healthy boundaries.
     
  • Define and know the differences between confidentiality, privacy, and informed consent.
     
  • Define and discuss dual relationships and challenges of dual relationships in rural social work practice.
     
  • Utilize the NASW Code of Ethics and Reamer's Ethical Decision-Making model to resolve ethical dilemmas in practice.

Kate Kipp Headshot

Kate Kipp is an advanced practice social worker with more than twenty years of practice experience in child welfare, youth justice.  Kipp is an assistant professor of social work at UWSP.  In her spare time, Kipp volunteers with the Girl Scouts of the Northwest Great Lakes, MCCDA Head Start, and her in her faith community.
