Description:

The physical readiness test battery has validity evidence to support its use as a job-related requirement for selection, training, and retention of law enforcement officers in the State of Wisconsin. The standards represent the level of physical fitness which predicts safe and effective job performance of the essential physical tasks required of police. You will perform a vertical jump, agility run, sit ups, 300 meter run, push ups, and a 1.5 mile run.

Manufacture Your Future

High School students are invited to attend this interactive event to learn more about the innovative field of manufacturing.  Participants will discover the variety of manufacturing careers they can launch in just one year at Northwood Tech and have the opportunity to explore the Machine Tool Operation and Welding labs.  Trail blazing women and men will share their experience and successes working in the manufacturing industry.  There will be giveaways, an opportunity to win prizes, and lunch will be provided.

How can you shape your work culture to be more welcoming and inclusive? Are there ways you could invite awareness and interdependence? Understand allyship and intersectionality and how to promote support for the LGBTQ+ community. Learn the power of sharing stories to promote equality. In this lively, interactive session, we will learn current vocabulary and statistics to make a difference and watch our communities thrive! Lisa Koenecke is an experienced and energetic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) professional speaker and facilitator. She specializes in counteracting unconscious bias and LGBTQ+ inclusion in business. Her impact is amplified by strengthening each person’s allyship. With a demonstrated history of working in secondary education and a passion for community and social services, she is an expert in counseling, crisis intervention, educational leadership, and program development.

Safety Seminar: Machine Guarding for Manufacturing


September 21 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

This seminar will focus on identification and correction of the top hazards at manufacturing facilities: machine guarding and lockout/tagout. OSHA has an ongoing National Emphasis Program on amputations along with a newer, local emphasis program on Food Manufacturing for Wisconsin that will last for five years. The seminar will also address thermal burns from processing and chemical burns from sanitation, particularly food manufacturing. The goal of the seminar is to provide education for company Safety and Health leadership and professionals, and to support the Safety Teams’ continuous improvement and safety management programs. Light snack included.
