The Construction Training Programs provide a clear path for entry and advancement in the construction field. The Construction Foundations Certificate covers essential skills like framing, drafting, and safety for entry-level jobs. The Construction Essentials Diploma builds on these core skills, while the Advanced Construction Essentials Certificate offers hands-on training in advanced framing and installation techniques. These programs will prepare you for a variety of construction careers.

    • Program Overview
      The Construction Foundations certificate will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary for entry level job success in the construction field. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of construction framing and drafting along with print reading and math applications related to construction. Safety principles and the use of hand and power tools will be covered.
       
    • Program Outcomes
      Employers will expect Construction Foundations graduates to be able to:
      • Use hand and power tools and equipment
      • Apply industry recognized safety practices and procedures
      • Interpret construction drawings
      • Demonstrate industry building practices and material application 
    • Career Outlook

      The Advanced Construction Essentials certificate will provide students with advanced training built upon skills acquired from the Construction Essentials or Construction Foundations programs offered at Northwood Tech. Students will learn advanced framing of roofs, stairs, along with construction and installation of doors, windows and exterior finish materials, such as siding and roofing, in a hands-on skilled based learning environment.
       
    • Program Outcomes
      Advanced Construction Essentials graduates will be able to:
      • Use hand and power tools and equipment
      • Apply industry recognized safety practices and procedures
      • Analyze sustainable building practices
      • Interpret construction drawings
      • Interpret building codes
      • Demonstrate industry building practices and material application
