Course Description:
Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) is a 16-hour course that was developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, (NHTSA) to address the gap in training between Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) training. This course will cover: SFST skills refresher. Advanced sobriety tests. Common drugs of abuse. Driving while impaired by drugs. How drugs affect the human body. Observable effects drug combinations. Medical conditions that mimic drug impairment. Pre & post arrest procedures and a legal update with pertinent case law relating to OWI and drugged driving cases. Officers looking for a SFST review and a better understanding on drugs that impair driving are highly encouraged to take this course.
Prerequisites:
Must be NHTSA certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST).
