Course Description:
This 8 hour course will address the proper response to child maltreatment cases. Participants will learn about the child protective services process and gain understanding about how law enforcement and child welfare roles intersect. The course will provide guidance on responding to specific types of cases such as child sexual assault and drug endangered child cases. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of working across disciplines and strengthening partnerships between child welfare and law enforcement professionals. This course will educate attendees about the unique challenges facing law enforcement officers and their families related to stress, mental health, and its impacts.
