Course Description:
This course is designed to provide initial and remedial training in the handling and use of the law enforcement personal defense weapon. This course is valid for both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
Topics of instruction include:
- Pistol Mounted Optic Theory
- Reliability & durability considerations for duty
- Optic functions, controls & features
- Advantages & limitations of pistol mounted optic
- Mounting & zeroing procedures
- Battery selection & changes
- End user maintenance
- Draw and presentation
- Target focused shooting
- Obscured lens / blocked emitter remediation
- Optic failure & backup iron sight use
- Close quarters sighting techniques
- Dot tracking during multiple round strings
- Surgical shooting with red dot
- Speed shooting with the red dot
- State pistol qualification attempt
Materials/Equipment Needed:
Pistol with pistol mounted optic, -3 magazines with 300 pistol rounds, holster, spare batteries and tools needed to zero / adjust optic, and body armor.
Prerequisites:
There are no instructional prerequisites for this course. Participants must be from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Bureau of Training and Standards or from some comparable governmental entity.)

Class size will be limited to first 12 registered.
