Biography
Melissa's educational and occupational experience provides a holistic understanding of nursing. She has two bachelor’s degrees in biotechnology and nursing and minor degrees in biology, chemistry and psychology. After working as a nurse in a variety of settings such as medical telemetry, intermediate care, medical surgical, PACU, same day surgery, emergency room and circulator for 10 years, she was inspired to pursue a master’s degree focusing on nurse educator.
Melissa wanted to be an educator since she experienced her first clinical as a nursing student. Her goal as an educator is to have a rapport with students that builds a trusting relationship and foster an environment of critical thinking.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, reading and crocheting. She also has a small hobby farm that includes chickens, rabbits, dairy sheep and alpacas.
