Biography
In the last decade, Sarah Mayhak (she, her, hers) has worked with both adult learners and traditional college-age students. Her experience as a Communication Instructor at James Madison University is complemented by her role as a Corporate Trainer, where she facilitated the learning of new and existing employees to ensure they felt confident and capable in their careers.
From an early age, Sarah benefited from the love, care, and acceptance shown to her by educators. Witnessing the intentional and purposeful efforts her teachers made to create classrooms that fostered belonging and affirmation inspired her to pursue a career in education. Teaching allows Sarah to be a small part of someone’s big story, inclusive of each student’s individual experiences and identity. Her guiding principle as an Instructor at Northwood Tech is to embody an ethos of care for every student. This includes knowing each student by name, helping them reach their personal and professional goals, and caring about their current and future lives.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with dogs as a foster mom for the local shelter. Since moving back to Wisconsin from Virginia, Sarah and her spouse have enjoyed quality time with family, exploring Northwestern Wisconsin’s coffee shops, and biking on some of the region’s great paved trails.
