Northwood Tech students’ impressive performance at 2024 SkillsUSA Nationals

7/8/2024 - Northwood Technical College’s construction and cabinetmaking program proudly celebrates the achievements of two of its outstanding students, Carson Knutson and Hunter Degerstrom, who showcased their exceptional skills at the SkillsUSA National Championships held from June 24-29, 2024, in Atlanta during the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC).

Carson Knutson, hailing from Grantsburg, Wisc., competed in the Carpentry category demonstrating his remarkable expertise, earning a prestigious third place finish out of 36 competitors, which built on his sixth-place finish in 2023. His accomplishment brings home a silver medal, highlighting his dedication and talent in the field of carpentry.
Hunter Degerstrom, from Dresser, Wisc., made his first attempt at the national cabinetmaking competition and achieved an impressive seventh-place finish among 38 competitors. His performance highlights his exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to excellence in cabinetmaking.
The SkillsUSA National Championships is a premier event that brings together the best students from across the country to compete in various skill-based contests. The achievements of Knutson and Degerstrom at this highly competitive event reflect the high-quality education and training provided by Northwood Technical College's construction and cabinetmaking program.
As Knutson and Degerstrom graduated in May 2024 from the construction and cabinetmaking program at Northwood Tech, their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to their peers and a reminder of the opportunities available through dedication and skill development.
