Karen Hoglund
Ashland
Dean of Public Safety, Ashland
My role as an academic dean includes supervision of all aspects of programs and faculty. I oversee Architectural Commercial Design, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration, Machine Tool Operation, Machine Tool Technician, Machine Tool Technics, CNC Machine Tool Operation, Construction and Cabinetmaking, and Welding.
My tenure with Northwood Tech began in 2000 teaching continuing education courses and customized training in Information Technology. In 2004, I was hired in the student services area to serve students through the admissions process until 2014 when I was hired as an Academic Dean, Technology and Industry. Since then, I, along with a great team, have started a Welding academy at New Richmond High School, and a Construction Essentials Academy at Clayton High School, Bayfield High School, Lac Coutre Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, and the Northwest Workforce Investment Board. My career with Northwood Tech has been full of rich experiences and people that have allowed me to focus on the success of students now and in the future.
