Biography
Prior to working in nursing education, I worked as a registered nurse in the long-term care setting in Wisconsin and Iowa for over a decade. As a registered nurse, I was additionally involved in teaching nursing assistant classes and providing wound care to residents. I moved to Iowa and worked for several colleges providing clinical education in the long-term and acute care settings until I was hired at a private health sciences college in Sioux City. I also attained my master's degree during that time.
I spent the majority of my nursing education career at that institution. In my tenure there, I excelled through the ranks and positions as a nursing instructor, assistant professor, and associate professor. Additionally, I served as the department chair of the Associate of Science in Nursing program, interim Associate Dean of Nursing, and Academic Dean. Throughout my nursing education career, I have also demonstrated excellence through achieving certification in gerontological nursing and currently as a nurse educator.
