- Title: Proper Documentation for Medicare’s Annual Wellness Visits
- Presenter: Tony Evans, RHIA, Professional Coding Manager, Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital
- Objectives:
- Understand what is needed to properly code for an Annual Wellness Visit (AWV).
- Understand an MA’s role in obtaining the necessary information for an Annual Wellness Visit.
- Understand how to depart the patient with the proper documents.
- Understand what is needed to properly code for an Annual Wellness Visit (AWV).
- Session Two
- Title: Trauma-Informed Healthcare
- Presenter: Brittany Hamm, DNP, APRN, CNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, Nurse Practitioner, Lake Superior Community Health Center
- Objectives:
- Learn about trauma-informed care and its principles.
- Discuss the potential impacts of applying trauma-informed care.
- Discuss how to apply trauma-informed care approaches in healthcare and with specific populations.
- Session Three
- Title: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the Primary Care Clinic
- Presenter: Emily Anderson, MD, Medical Director, Lake Superior Community Health Center
- Objectives:
- Understand the definition and purpose of MAT.
- Have a general knowledge of medications and treatments used for the management of alcohol use disorder, opioid use disorder and stimulant use disorders in the primary care setting.
- Understand the role of the Medical Assistant and other clinic staff in providing MAT in a team-based setting.
- Session Four
- Title: Give It Your Best Shot
- Presenter: Ilana Yokel, CMA (AAMA), Clinical Assistant, Essentia Health Pediatrics
- Objectives:
- Understand proper placement and techniques when giving pediatric injections
- Recognize how to manage the environment to promote success and safety and minimize pain and fear.
- To be able to practice and promote techniques that minimize trauma and enhance coping skills for both patients and practitioners.
